Relationships...

So I have been thinking a lot lately about relationships. Mainly about how aggravating it is that people now a days think that things should just come so easily. So many people just get married or start a relationship thinking that everything is going to be a fairytale, and I'm sorry but that doesn't just happen! You have to work for it and create your own fairytale. Just because you are married or in a relationship doesn't mean you get to just sit back and put things on auto pilot. And I'm sure those that might be reading this is thinking "what does she know, she's never been married". True. I have never been married, but I have been in plenty of relationships and witnessed enough people go through a divorce. Now I know that sometimes a divorce is for the better. But I will say that so many people from my generation, just use it as an easy escape because they don't want to do the work. "He never did sweet things for me like buy me flowers" "She never wanted to have sex" Things like this are what I've heard so many people going through a divorce say. My reply to that....Seriously?!? If these are your reasonings, you are stupid. Things like this can be worked on! BOTH have to make an effort! And let me tell you, that even if you do find someone else you will still have issues with them that you will have to work on as well. So why not work on the one you are with and make it last? Like I said before I know that in some situations divorce or a break up is a must, but really I just don't feel like people put enough work into their relationships anymore. Don't let someone go a day wondering if you love them. Tell them! Show them! The littlest things make the biggest difference. Start her car for her in the morning if it's cold outside so that she won't have to get into a cold car. Send him a sexy text during the day letting him know that you are looking forward to him coming home. Surprise her with a simple note hidden where she will find it. Have his favorite meal prepared for him when you know he's had a bad day. Things so simple and easy, show the most love. And if you find yourself in a situation where you think you are losing your loved one, don't just give up and let them walk away. FIGHT FOR THEM! If it ends, at least you can say that you tried everything you could to make it work.

It's not just cake...It's a master piece!

If you haven't seen TLC's show Cake Boss you are missing out! This show is beyond entertaining and fascinating! The work that goes behind each and every cake is unbelievable. Just look at these pictures and you'll know what I mean...

This is the beginning of FAO Schaurtz cake that was created for a birthday party of twin boys.
The cake had two toy soldiers, and to create them they had to first make a wooden structure, wrap the bottom in rice crispy treats to form the legs and then use pound cake to form the body and head.



This is the final master piece! It's truly amazing and you can seriously eat everything on this thing! Everything is made out of cake, rice crispy treats, fondant and modeling chocolate! I'm in awe...



This cake was created for a museum with a new prehistoric mammal exhibit opening. Again they are using a wooden structure, pound cake and rice crispy treats.




Here is the final piece. By the end of it, this cake was massive! Seriously hundreds of pounds of beautiful yummy cake.

Of course they do regular cakes too, but the detail is still the same. Every cake is perfect!

Of course Cohen's birthday cakes don't come ANY where close to these, I can at least say I made them with love. I know, I know it doesn't change the fact that they are slightly ugly :) , but at least I tried.

Like a kid in a candy store

So I recently discovered that we now have a cute little candy store down town. Upon discovering this I decided that Cohen and I visiting was a must! I had heard that it was an old fashioned type candy store, but I will say it was a little disappointing. Decoration wise it was very cute and classic, but it had more modern day candy than it did old fashioned. Which is fine, but I guess I had to high of expectations on it today. Anyway, Cohen enjoyed himself and that's all that matters.

The best part was this doll though...

Cohen thought that the doll was real and was freaked out because it wasn't moving. So I explained to him that it wasn't real and that he shouldn't be scared of it. To prove my point the man at the counter came to turn the doll around. Much to Cohen's surprise the doll had no face and creeped Cohen out further! I couldn't get Cohen to take a picture with it, all he wanted to do was point at it.

The Decison Has Been Made...

B has officially decided that she wants to use C has her ring bearer! If her wedding was this year I would be sweating it because I think he's too young, but I don't think we will have any issues for next year. So picture this with me...

AND TA-DAAAAA!

I'm officially done with my DIY necklace that I love so much and that B might were for her big day! There are a few corrections to be made but over all it's done, and I'm very happy with the over all look of it! Below are pictures of it, but please excuse how crappy they are being that I used my phone to take the pictures.

Anyway if you look closely you can tell that I used a jewelry wire to make these. Only problem is that it's too stiff and I don't like it. So I'm going to get some flimsy-er (not a word I know) wire or fishline and do a quick transfer of the beads.

Obsessed much…to say the least

I do not hide that fact that I am wedding/DIY obsessed. Anyone who really knows me knows that I could spend days on the internet looking up different projects. But within the last 6 months I have let these amazing little projects consume my every thought! Weddings and DIY are always on my mind but I have allowed myself to be taken over by every wedding blog, magazine, pictures, bakers, photographers and anything wedding I can get my hands on. Why has my obsession intensified just in these last six months you might ask…well my best friend B got engaged on June 6th this year and I have known the engagement was coming before she did. So I have thrown myself into research for her to help her create her absolute dream wedding! Which kicked my obsession into a new alarming level and I have ended up saving 34 different DIY projects, not just for her wedding but for other people I know as well (I love to help my friends with their wedding planning when they need me). What you can expect from me

Being that this is my first post, I wanted to set things straight as to what you can expect to see from me. Through out this blog I'm sure I will be posting things as personal as things about my wonderful son C, and as out there as how I felt about the latest reality show I watched the night before. BUT...I have a feeling that the next year's worth of posts will be about weddings and DIY projects, seeing as I am the maid of honor for my best friend (B) who will be married October 2010! And as mentioned in my about me, I'm a little obsessed with weddings! So...I hope you enjoy A Little This, A Little That...But Oh So Me!
